Barperpops Quartet

Barberpops formed as a quartet in 2021. They noted that they were all dads, hence their name. They aim to include popular songs in their repertoire that convey a positive attitude toward relationships. They hope you find some joy in their songs today.

Tenor Randy Detjen, is an experienced barbershopper and is sometimes referred to as the rent-a-tenor (RAT) in the chorus because of his eagerness to fill in any time it is needed. Randy also sings bass interchangeably as required. His enthusiasm is obvious whenever he steps on stage.

Singing lead is Peter Lewellen. Peter is new to barbershop singing, but sang back when he was in school, and also sings to quiet his children when they get too rambunctious. He follows in the footsteps of his father who joined the Chordsmen several years ago.

Don Lewellen sings baritone for the quartet. Despite only being a barbershopper for less than a decade, he has fully embraced the quartet and chorus life as his “second career”. Who knows, in a few years, he may be able to sing in a quartet with three generations of Lewellens.

Although Anthony Schreiter often is seen singing lead in quartets and the chorus, he is equally at home in the tenor and bass parts. He particularly likes the vocal relaxation of the lower notes. He has been a Chordsman for almost 15 years and also is a talented musician in his own right as well.
